According to a recent store leak, Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be receiving a Story Expansion Pass that will add additional content following the title’s 2027 release. The Expansion Pass was spotted via a listing spotted in the database of the Epic Game Store, offering a look at 9 DLC placeholder packs that are visible. The original game in the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy saw the release of the intergrade DLC that offered players to take the role of Yuffie, before her appearance as a party member in the sequel, Rebirth, which did not feature any DLC additions to the title.
At present, it is unclear what these DLC packs actually are, or whether we will get mostly cosmetic, the inclusion of full missions, or the addition of areas, new or returning. One listing in particular outright states that it is a Story Expansion Pass, a title that would not make sense if we weren’t going to get multiple narrative inclusions with it. Cosmetics in the game will work similarly to Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII, adding new abilities through a class-based system, so it would make sense for more of these to be added as well.
Naoki Hamaguchi, before this leak, had confirmed that Revelation would serve to combine some of the lore and characters from several other IPs in the same universe that were released after the initial game’s release in 1997. Rebirth had included the character of Cissnei, who first appeared in Crisis Core, released in 2007. Naoki confirmed that both Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children would see some narrative inclusion in the game, but fans are speculating that these Story Expansions might offer even more of this. Something like a Dirge-inspired Vincent-led expansion, something akin to the Prompto DLC featured in Final Fantasy XV.

Final Fantasy VII Revelation will be released by Square Enix sometime in 2027, and will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
