CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the upcoming expansion to The Witcher III, entitled Songs of the Past, will be presented during Gamescom 2026, which will be held in Cologne, Germany, between August 26 and August 30. The studio has also announced that the expansion will recieve it’s debut trailer during Opening Night Live, a premier showcase held by Geoff Keighley on August 25, and will be watchable on both YouTube and Twitch.

During Gamescom, both players and press in attendance will be able to receive a guided presentation of Songs of the Past at the CD Projekt Red booth, with showcases being held in the business area at booth B065 in Hall 4.2 between August 26 and August 28. They will also be held in the entertainment area at booths B030 and A031 in Hall 8.1 from August 26 to August 30.

While we have heard rumors of a new expansion to the 2016 Game of the Year-winning The Witcher III since earlier this year, CD Projekt Red officially announced the experience in May during a live stream celebrating the 10th anniversary of Blood and Wine, the last DLC released for the massive RPG up to that point. They confirmed at the time that Songs of the Past is set to release sometime in 2027 and that it will release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC, leaving behind the previous generation on which the title originally released.

CD Projekt Red is co-developing the upcoming expansion with Fool’s Theory, the team that is currently developing the remake of The Witcher. This DLC is also meant, in some capacity, to bridge the game between the last game in the series and the upcoming entry, The Witcher IV, which features Ciri as the protagonist. Despite Ciri having some playable roles in The Witcher III, it has been confirmed that this DLC will put the player back in the role of Geralt of Rivia.

Opening Night Light will be held on August 25, with the show set to kick off at 11 am PT / 2 pm ET / 7 pm UK time / 8 pm CEST.
