Publisher Bandai Namco has announced that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is receiving a free update for its 10th Anniversary. The company has detailed the contents set to be released for the game over the coming days via its website, with the update split into two different installments. The first of these drops will take place on October 27, with the second set to follow on October 30; all of this will be available to anybody who owns the game on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC.
The first free update will bring in login bonus rewards, special costumes, as well as an update for the Future Saga Chapter 4 DLC’s Gallery of Time, which is set to launch Tuesday. Following this, the game will receive a proper celebration for its anniversary with “Final Festival of Universes,” the Friday following this. This event will feature hard-to-find items, as well as several unlocks for the upcoming Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, set to launch later next year.
An official description for the update reads:
During the Final Festival of Universes, you will be able to raise your camaraderie level with characters who have accompanied you on your journey, choosing between Trunks, the Supreme Kai of Time, or Fu. Doing so will unlock special illustrations. In addition, hard-to-obtain items will be coming back, and you will be able to earn 25 times more Star Coins than usual, making it easier than ever to exchange them for rewards.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 was released on October 25, 2016, now a decade ago, as a follow-up to the popular first title released in 2015. The Final Festival of Universes, for all intents and purposes, appears to be a send-off to the title, building anticipation for its follow-up. Over that decade, Xenoverse 2 has regularly recieved updates and DLC content.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was announced in April of this year for PC and Console release and will be set in Age 1000, which ironically feels like the age you will be after the long wait has concluded. While it was always planned for 2027, we recently got a narrower window in the second half of the year. This followed fan feedback from both showcased content and playtests conducted by Bandai Namco. It was stated this decision was made to “fully realize our ambitions for both the launch experience and the content we plan to operate and support afterward.”
