Game of the Year-winning RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has reached its first anniversary and is celebrating the occasion with a free update for players. This update adds new cosmetic options for all party members in the game. This also comes with a new sales milestone for the game, with developer Sandfall Interactive announcing that the game has sold 8 million units worldwide, a metric that would be impressive for bigger games, let alone a modestly made turn-based title.
While 8 million is impressive on its own, the title was also released day one on Xbox Game Pass, with Sandfall Interactive stating that the title was the number one downloaded third-party title of 2025 on the service. While we didn’t get any official numbers, this is an impressive feat, suggesting the number of players who at least tried the game is going to be much higher.
The update, added today, gives each of the main cast (Gustave, Verso, Maelle, Lune, Sciel, and Monoco) a new haircut to change their look. They are available to claim in-game and equip, getting everybody ready for the one-year celebration in style. These looks were revealed via fresh new artwork for the game (featured above), showing off the new hairstyles for players.

While Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is considered a self-contained experience, Sandfall Interactive has confirmed that a sequel is in development. The studio has stated that the title was always meant as the start of a franchise rather than a single game, with each expanding the lore rather than continuing the narrative.
