After some criticism from fans last week over their title, The Blood of Dawnwalker, lacking an option for 60 FPS on Consoles, Developer Rebel Wolves have announced a day-one patch to rectify that. Releasing alongside the game on September 3, a performance patch that targets 60 FPS will be released on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, and Xbox Series X. This means players on these consoles will now have three modes (Quality, Balanced, and Performance) to choose from when deciding how they want to experience the game.

This comes fairly quickly in the wake of some fan backlash to the news that the game would, at best, be capped at 40 FPS with 4k visuals in the Balanced mode, with Quality mode targeting 30 FPS with 4K visuals as well. The one thing the announcement does not mention is what the visual fidelity of the performance mode will be, though it is assumed to be lower.

According to Rebel Wolves, the patch was already in the plans at the time of the controversy, but was not, as of then, set in stone for launch. They stated, “[It] was already in the works, but it was still being tested. We simply weren’t ready to promise it yet.” They wouldn’t have been the first studio to avoid the higher performance altogether, so it was a fair question to ask, though typically the PlayStation 5 Pro will include 60 FPS even if none of the other can.

Unfortunately, players on the Xbox Series S will not receive this day-one patch and will only have a single performance mode to play in. This will be a graphics mode that caps the FPS at 30 frames. The PC version never suffered from this controversy have a full range of options to select from.

Once again, The Blood of Dawnwalker will release on September 3 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC
