Capcom has announced that Resident Evil Requiem has passed another impressive sales milestone and provided its director with two equally impressive cakes to make the occasion. The latest entry in the long-running survival horror series has now sold 7 million units since its launch on February 27, 2026. This is an increase of a million from the last official metric released in mid-April.
Resident Evil Requiem has probably outperformed even the team at Capcom’s expectations, even for an already successful franchise from a beloved company. Upon its initial release, the title managed to sell 5 million copies in only five days, which made it the fastest-selling game in the entire history of the series. Currently, Resident Evil 2 Remake stands as the best-selling individual game with around 16.8 million copies sold since its release in 2019, with Requiem selling nearly half of that in only a few months.
Director Koshi Kakanishi revealed this latest sales achievement via his Instagram account, in a post that showcases staff members taking a moment to celebrate with two cakes to mark the occasion. One cake for lean features black icing, berries adorning it, a biscuit-shaped hatchet, Leon on top, and a banner in homage to the one left for Leon on that faithful day in Raccoon City. The other cake for Grace has white frosting with what looks like a biscuit zombie hand and a jam dripping down from the Grace topper.
Fans of the game have plenty more to look forward to as well. A story expansion for Resident Evil Requiem is in development, though it has not yet been confirmed if this will expand on either the narrative of Leon or Grace or feature another character taking the lead. A new “Mini-Game” is also planned to be added in May, something fans are fairly confident is a Mercenaries mode.
