Moonlight Peaks Surpasses 200,000 Copies Sold

Publisher XSEED Games, which is an independent brand of Marvelous USA, along with Marvelous Europe and developer Little Chicken Game Company, have announced that Moonlight Peaks has surpassed a milestone of 200,000 copies sold. The title was initially released on July 7th and is available on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC via Steam, and the Google Play Games Store.

Moonlight Peaks is an (un)life sim in the vein of Stardew Valley or Coral Island, in which the player takes control of a vampire who is Dracula’s child and travels to their ancestral land of Moonlight Peaks to become an after-dark farmer who begins taking care. The town of Moonlight Peaks is also populated with other elements of mysticism such as monsters, werewolves, and witches, which you can choose to befriend or seek more from.

An official blurb for the game illustrates it as such:

Experience life as a vampire in a magical town full of werewolves, witches, mermaids, and more in Moonlight Peaks! In this heartwarming, supernatural (un-)life sim, players set out to show their skeptical father that a life of compassion is possible – even for the undead. Make friends with the other local creatures of the night and perhaps find eternal love in the mystical dating scene. Players will settle down in the family’s haunted cottage, customizing it to suit their own sense of gothic style. Embrace immortality and unlock ancient abilities, master potion brewing, and expand a grimoire of spells, all in the name of a more bountiful harvest. Unravel the mysteries of the seven families that inhabit Moonlight Peaks and bring a bit of light back to this spooky settlement. Just remember to be back in the coffin before the sun comes up!

When we reviewed the game, I gave it an 8/10 and stated, “Moonlight Peaks could have just been a rehash of a tried and true formula, but it amounts to way more. It is a mystical, magical romp of a cozy sim that grabs you early on. The twist of the day-night cycle is fun, despite gripes about stamina and the characters being more than one-note caricatures of their monster inspirations.”

Currently, the title has an 81% on Metacritic and a 79% on OpenCritic, with these sales numbers suggesting the title has been fairly successful for all involved. Moonlight Peaks is available for $39.99 on the Nintendo Switch 2 and $34.99 on all other platforms. On PC, you can purchase a Digital Deluxe Edition that comes with a digital art book and soundtrack (which is great BTW) for $44.97.
