Developer Cold Iron Studios, along with Daybreak Game Company, has announced Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, a sequel to the 2021 PvE third-person shooter of the same name. The game is in development for PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series, with a planned release this summer. The title was previously hinted at as being in development last year, in October, when the game appeared on the ESRB website, having been rated M.
The most noticeable change in the series, as featured in the trailer, is the addition of a fourth squad member to your xenomorph-killing fireteam. More details will be released for the game soon, with Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 IGN First “cover story” for the month of May. Beginning next week, IGN will begin rolling out information one at a time, showcasing gameplay, hands-on impressions, and more information on the character classes and enemies one at a time.
What we can see from the trailer, much of the game will remain in line with its predecessor. Players traverse tight sci-fi locations inspired by and based on the Aliens franchise as hordes of the titular aliens corner and attack you and your team. Players will have a diverse range of weapons to kill xenomorphs that get their way, as well as abilities to help create a more rounded team, so you survive each run.
There are a few details the team at Cold Iron Studios has shared, starting with the fact that the game will feature full cross-play support. There will also be new Xenomorph types and improved player classes, as well as a fully customizable specialist class that allows players to mix and match their favorite weapons and abilities from other classes. Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 mode will also feature a horde with dedicated maps. This mode will feature waves of enemies with continually growing, ever more deadly waves that offer greater rewards as you progress.
