The upcoming vampire action title The Blood of Dawnwalker has received a new look at gameplay and a long-awaited release date, after it was previously tentatively slated for 2026. The game is the debut title from developer Rebel Wolves, a studio made up of industry veterans, many having previously been employed at CD Projekt Red and having worked on titles such asThe Witcher III and Cyberpunk 2077.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is an open-world vampire title where players take the role Coen, a man suffering both with silver poisoning and the vampiric curse in 14th-century Southeast Europe. As the title implies, the player will be able to operate both during the day and at night, with differing abilities and tasks available during these periods. The day brings new edicts based on actions taken at night, as the world reacts to your actions, tied to an infamy system that grows as your legend grows. There will also be an emphasis on dialogue, with the game promising to be a narrative-rich RPG.
Combat looks similar in a few ways to The Witcher, with Coen participating in tight melee combat with enemies, dodging, and parrying sword attacks. Mixed in with this are vampiric abilities, like stealth feeding on an enemy to start combat or turning into a puff of smoke. Abilities can be unlocked in a non-linear fashion, unlocked by earning experience points that are gained by completing the various events and objectives found around the map, allowing you to build out Coen’s skills in a play style more enjoyable for you. Coen can also turn into a wolf as they explore the vast map.
Preorders for the game go live today. Two digital editions will be available to preorder, a standard at $69.99 that includes the base game and the Sangoran Wayfarer’s Armor Set, as well as a digital deluxe edition at $79.99 that includes both as well as a Digital Comic Book, Digital World Compendium, and Digital Soundtrack. A physical day one edition will be available at $69.99 and will include a Steelbook Case, also with the Armor Set.
A collector’s edition is also available to preorder via the Bandai Namco Store, featuring the Steelbook case, a physical 60-page World Compendium, a 33×40 cm world map, a collector’s box, and a 23 cm height pureart statue of lead protagonist Coen. It is listed at $199.99.
The Blood of Dawnwalker is set to release on September 3, 2026. It will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
