During the Warhammer Skulls 2026 event, it was announced that the strategy title Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters will be getting a sequel. Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch is being developed by Complex Games, the studio behind the previous title, with Frontier serving as publisher for the game. No release date was set for the game during the game’s announcement trailer, but it will be released for Console and PC.
The official Blurb for the game can be read below:
In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch’s campaign showcases the brutality of Warhammer 40,000 through a narrative set on a galactic scale. Rising to power as Interrogator Bastian Rath, players are thrust into command amid a conspiracy threatening the stability of the Tyrian expanse. Across scorched planets, commanders will decide the fate of the sector and the Imperium’s future within it as they uncover the truth left behind in the wake of Inquisitor Rykov.
The subtitle of the game, or sub-subtitle, Deathwatch, comes from a special chapter of the Space Marines that is known specifically for fighting aliens. This unit is made up of veterans from other units, with one side of their pauldrom bearing the insignia of their original unit, while the other side bears the label for Deathwatch.
Several changes are being made between this title and that of the previous. For starters, players will be able to bring agents to their unit from both the Inquisition and the Astra Militarum, making three types of playable factions, including Deathwatch. The title will also feature an expanded enemy faction list, now including the Hivecult (Tyranid-aligned forces), Snakebite Clan (brutal Orks), and Vior’la Sept (T’au Empire forces), Victrorix (currepted Astra Militarum members, the Cult of Endless Dawn, and Daemons of Tzeen.
In addition, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Deathwatch will feature nine playable classes. New vehicular units will also be deployable, and will include the Redemptor Dreadnought, Scout Sentinel, and Leman Russ tank. There will also be a new skirmish mode that offers a fully customisable battle to participate in, free of the confines of the main campaign.
For those that don’t remember, Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate was a 1998 game released for PC. It would take 24 years for the game to get its official sequel with Daemonhunters, which was released in 2022. Based on this quick turnaround, it sounds like the Chaos Gate is a valuable part of the Warhammer 40,000 universe moving forward.
