Lords of the Fallen II, the upcoming soulslike from developer CI Games SE, will not longedr release sometime this year. Instead, the developer has announced that the title will be pushed to sometime in early 2027. The CEO of CI Games, Marek Tyminski, confirmed this, stating the extra time will be used for refining and strengthening the game. While the title never had an official release date probably doesn’t hurt that the delay will move the game out of a crowded period dominated by the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Tyminski stated:
As development progresses, we have worked closely with the Gameplay Feedback Team, a dedicated group of seasoned Souls-like veterans within our Launch Creative Team. Their valuable ongoing input, combined with the team’s vision, has identified meaningful opportunities to further refine and strengthen the overall experience. These enhancements will benefit from additional integration, iteration, and polishing time, enabling the team to deliver the highest possible quality at launch.
Tyminski did go on to acknowledge the current reality of the rest of this year, with titles like Control Resonant, Silent Hill: TownFall, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword all set to release in September, with that particular month crowded from back. Other titles like Valor Mortis were set to release in that period but were also delayed, now set for an October release, alongside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. February of next year has also seen a lot of announcements, like Fable, Persona 4 Revival, and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis.
Tyminski went on to state:
This updated release window also strategically positions Lords of the Fallen 2 outside of a highly competitive holiday period, ensuring the game receives the dedicated attention it deserves. The team remains fully energized by the strong response to our recent reveals and is deeply focused on delivering a standout dark fantasy action RPG and a worthy successor to the Lords of the Fallen franchise. We are grateful for the continued passion, feedback, and support from our community, and we look forward to sharing more updates in the coming months.
This delay only positions Lord of the Fallen II as releasing sometime in early 2027, with no official release date offered. While only a few titles have made moves away from this crowded space at present, many people expect more games to follow suit. Things like Silent Hill: Townfall, a horror game, are moving to a position closer to Halloween instead of competing with potential game of the year titles. Of course, these shifts remain to be seen as we get close to that period.
Lords of the Fallen II will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC.
