Capcom has released a demo for their critically praised Resident Evil Requiem, which is currently in the Game of the Year hunt, allowing players to try out the title for free before committing. The demo comes three months after the game’s February release, with $7 million copies having been sold thus far. The demon is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Capcom said today in a statement released by them:
The demo version allows you to play part of the game’s early stages. Please note that save data from the demo version cannot be transferred to the full version of the game.
Players who have tried the demo so far have said that the content featured in it primarily features the Grace Ashcroft section, in which she initially explores the Rhodes Hill Chronic Care Center. The segment after she initially awakens, hanging upside down. The demo also includes a brief section in which players take the role of Leon S. Kennedy, up until he passes off the Requiem gun to Grace, and the game opens up a bit. In this portion. P
layers will meet a stalker monster that will torment Grace through much of the early hours of the game, with both characters having a decent showcase of their different styles of gameplay. This should also give players on the fence a good chance to test tech limitations, such as how the game runs on the Nintendo Switch 2.
This comes amid the victory lap Capcom has been taking since the release of the game. The $7 million sales make Resident Evil Requiem the fastest selling games in the series, and helped boost the financial outlook for the company. A new mode, entitled Leon Must Die Forever, was also added to the game this month. The mode adds a roguelike twist to the more action-oriented Leon gameplay. An expansion is also in development for Resident Evil Requiem, though nothing has been showcased for this as of yet.
