Developer King Art Games has announced that Warhammer: Dawn of War IV will be receiving a delay of around two and a half months. This will push the title from its previously planned release on September 17 to December 3, with early access for the game now set to go live on November 30. September of this year is already heavily stacked with AAA experiences like Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Silent Hill Townfall, and Control Resonance, owing to many developers hoping to avoid the release of Grand Theft Auto VI.
Jan Theysen, creative director for the real-time strategy game, stated of the delay:
As we approached the final stages of development, we saw an opportunity to further enhance Dawn of War 4 and deliver the quality of experience we’ve always envisioned. The additional time will allow us to continue optimising performance, resolving bugs, and applying further polish to ensure players have the best possible experience from day one.
Along with this announcement, the developer has also updated Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV‘s year 1 roadmap to reflect the change in release. The free post-launch content schedule will now begin in 2027, with Crusade mode and Map Pack 1 launching earlier next year. A second map pack and the Lord Ahmnok Last Stand Crusade will follow after that in early spring. Finally, a third map pack and the game’s mission editor are scheduled for sometime after that, with a fourth map pack and the Guzcutta Last Stand Crusade scheduled for early summer.
Besides the content being added free post-launch, there will also be two paid add-ons for the title. This will be the Blood Raves story prologue coming in early spring, and the Aftermath campaign expansion, which is set to release in the summer. That second DLC will also feature a new faction for players to take control of, though the identity of this new faction has yet to be revealed.
To repeat, the new release date for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV is December 3, 2026. It will release exclusively for PC via Steam.
